Papilloma is primarily a benign tumor. Its morphological composition does not change during a person's life, but sometimes it can turn into a malignant tumor.
The appearance of papilloma growths is facilitated by a virus. According to the latest data, it is found in the body of 90% of the entire population. This does not always lead to the development of papillomatosis. Basically, it wakes up when the functions of the body's immune system decrease.
Causes of papillomavirus
Papillomavirus infection occurs through direct contact between a healthy person and a sick person. Basically this is what happens:
- Due to casual sexual relations during which no protective contraceptive method (condom) was used.
- Infection can result from visiting public places (baths, solariums, swimming pools, saunas).
- If there are wounds on the skin of the hand (even small ones), the risk of infection increases when shaking hands with a sick person.
- Non-observance of the basic regulations of general and intimate hygiene related to the individual use of towels, scissors and combs.
- A newborn baby can become infected at birth if it passes through its mother's birth canal.
Types of papillomas
Papilloma growth appears as a small neoplasm that protrudes slightly above the surface of the skin. Its diameter can reach 10 mm. Places of occurrence of papillomas are armpits, neck and chest, perineum and intimate organs.
Papilloma growth can manifest as follows:
Common wart. The most common manifestation of papillomavirus. Its diameter usually does not exceed 5 mm, and its shape is rounded. The color practically does not differ from the pigment of the body. Sometimes it can have a slightly brownish and rough surface.
Most often found:
- On the hands.
- It can be hidden under the head or hair.
- Skin folds.
- In the groin area.
- On the neck.
Acrochord.Or hanging papilloma. This variety is distinguished from the others by the fact that it clings to the body with a thin stem, and its growth is not in width, but in length. This causes a person some discomfort. Because as it grows, it can easily get injured if it gets caught in the clothes.
In addition, this type of growth is characterized by multiple growth. They are localized in several pieces, mainly on the sensitive skin of the neck, eyes and perineum.
Teenage papillomas.Papillomas of this type are considered the safest growths. They practically do not differ in color from the skin and do not stand out. And most often it goes away after puberty.
Condylomas. There are two types, flat and pointed. When they appear, the patient should be careful. And take their occurrence seriously. They tend to develop into malignant tumors. You can become infected with this type of condyloma through sexual contact.
They are often located on the mucous membrane of the external and internal genitals or around the rectal sphincter. Their appearance is often observed in the oral cavity.
Another danger of these papillomas is their susceptibility to increased trauma. They then become entry points for infection.
When can papillomas be removed at home?
There are basically two reasons for removing papillomas:
- Medical. This is based on the ability of neoplasms of this type to transform into a malignant state. To avoid this, surgical treatment methods are resorted to. Scalpel removal with laser or cryodestruction is less commonly used.
- Cosmetics. This reason causes aesthetic discomfort, especially for women.
In any case, the decision to remove papilloma growth should be discussed with a dermatologist. And if he prescribes removal, it is best to do it on an outpatient basis or in a hospital.
Since the independent removal of this abnormal growth can lead to:
- It causes unwanted burns in nearby tissues.
- The development of bleeding.
- Cicatricial changes in the skin.
- If hygiene is not adequate, there is a high probability of wound infection.
- If the manipulation was performed incorrectly, a relapse may occur.
There are also restrictions based on which it is considered impossible to remove papillomas and warts at home.
Papillomatous growths should not be touched or removed:
- If it rapidly hypertrophies and changes its color to darker tones.
- If it is localized in the mouth or oropharynx, as well as in the eye or eyelid area.
- If the papilloma is injured and bleeds or changes its shape, home removal can lead to complications.
Under no circumstances should you use scissors, a razor or a knife to remove the papilloma. In addition to being a source of infection, these objects lead to the opposite effect. The papilloma will grow again, tend to progress rapidly, and become multiple in nature.
When removing papilloma at home, it is recommended to use drugs that can be purchased in pharmacies. Or use traditional medicine, which is approved by the doctor.
The leg of the papilloma should not be tied with threads, and the body of the growth should be covered with adhesive tape or tape. Because after using such recipes, an aesthetic scar remains and there is a possibility of infection.
When the papilloma is localized in the intimate areas, the procedure for its elimination can be performed only by a doctor and only in a hospital setting.
Removal of the papilloma
For high-quality removal of papilloma growths and warts at home, you can use drugs sold in pharmacies. An alternative to this method is the use of folk recipes.
Use of drugs based on alkaline compounds. Before performing such a procedure, the skin around the papilloma or wart must be treated. This can be done by using an oily cream with a regenerating effect.
After that, a small drop of medicine should be applied to the center of the papilloma. This manipulation can be repeated if the papilloma does not disappear after three days.
Positive dynamics can be achieved in the treatment of papillomausing cryodestruction. For this, it is not necessary to visit expensive clinics, it is enough to buy medicines with a freezing effect.
Once applied to the surface of the growth, these drugs freeze it. This leads to disruption of the blood supply to the papilloma, as a result of which it dies and disappears.
Poison-based cauterizing drugs. They are very effective against hanging papillomas. They give good results, after their use, the reappearance of abnormal growth is very rarely observed. Medicines containing phenol are used for this purpose. It is a strong poison. In order to avoid damage to the adjacent skin, the drug is applied cyclically. At least 15 minutes should pass after the first application of the drug, and then after applying the next layer.
The most important thing in the use of these drugs is to determine the exact dosage (how many layers should be applied), such a decision can only be made by a doctor.
Solutions of organic origin. This group of pharmacological drugs includes:
- a preparation based on salicylic and lactic acid.
- product based on podophyllotoxin.
When using a medicine containing acids, a single application of one drop of the medicine is sufficient. But if repeated use is required, this manipulation can be repeated no earlier than two days later.
The use of the drug containing podophyllotoxin sometimes causes difficulties, since it must be used twice a day, according to an application schedule every 12 hours. The therapy lasts for three days.
Papilloma patch. Its chemical composition contains substances that promote the rejection of papillomas or warts. For this, it is attached directly to the papilloma and is not removed for a week. Papilloma growth is rejected when the patch is removed. Sometimes it is not possible to remove the papilloma first, and then the procedure must be repeated.
Healing pencil. The main component of the drug is silver nitrate. It has a good bactericidal and cauterizing effect. After the pencil is moistened with water, it is used to treat the stem and surface of the papilloma. During the day, this manipulation can be done two or three times.
Treatment with folk remedies
To cure this pathology, you can use herbs, certain types of household chemicals and vegetables.
Celandine grass, popularly known as warthog pig. With its help, you can get rid of papillomas and warts on the human body, except for the impossibility of using the face and intimate organs.
Before use, grind the celandine herb together with the rhizome in a meat grinder. Wrap the resulting material in gauze and wring it out. The juice is poured into a glass container and the same amount of 40% alcohol or vodka is added. The liquid must ferment and only then is it ready for use.
The obtained tincture is applied to papillomas or warts for 3 weeks, no more than 6 growths can be treated at the same time.
It is very important to collect celandine during the period of rapid flowering, which is May and June. The highest concentration of active ingredients in the composition occurs during this period.
Washing soap.To get rid of papillomas and warts, it is best to use a laundry soap with a 65% label. The treatment procedure is carried out before going to bed. To do this, apply washing soap diluted with water to the area of the wart. In the morning, the dried laundry soap is removed with hot water. Such manipulation is allowed for 4 days. If the positive effect is incomplete or missing, the procedure can be repeated after 2 weeks. The tar soap based on birch tar has the same effect.
Using garlic.Garlic has a strong bactericidal effect and can be used to remove papillomas. To do this, pass a few cloves of garlic through a blender or meat grinder, mix with olive oil or liquid honey. Mix thoroughly and apply to the papilloma area for 15 minutes. Wash off the remaining mixture under running water. The manipulation is carried out no more than twice a day for 7 days.
Vinegar and onion. This product combination should not be used if papilloma growths are localized on the face, oral mucosa or genitals. Due to the fact that acetic acid can cause irritation and burns in nearby tissues.
To prepare the medicinal product, pour vinegar on a medium onion and let it stand for 3 hours. Then cut the onion in half and fix it with a bandage on the body in the place where the papilloma is located. This procedure is carried out before going to bed, and in the morning the bandage is removed and washed with cold water.
Freshly squeezed potato juice. This method of treatment can be used to treat papillomas on the genitals, perineum and rectum. To do this, you can grate the fruits of the potato on a fine grater or use a meat grinder. The resulting pulp is squeezed out and the surface of the papilloma is treated twice a day.
Horse chestnut.A good effect can be achieved if it is used as an additive while bathing. To do this, you need to take about half a bucket of chestnuts and steam them with boiling water for 12 hours. After separating the chestnuts, add water to the bath.
This procedure can be done daily for a week.
Kalanchoe. The leaves of this plant should be used before going to bed. To do this, fix them in the papilloma area with a bandage or glue. In order to enhance the effect, the affected surface can be wrapped in cellophane.
Banana peel.It can be used by rubbing it into the surface of the papilloma. Cauterize it beforehand with an alcoholic iodine solution.
Egg whiteit must be applied to the surface of the papilloma, after drying, the procedure must be repeated.
Walnut(young fruits), passed through a meat grinder or blender, diluted by half with petroleum. After that, it will stand for 20 days. For the treatment of papillomas, it is applied daily to their surface. It can be used for up to 3 weeks.
Papillomas and pregnancy
Most scientific studies have concluded that the HPV virus does not pose a threat to the expectant mother and her baby.
Removal of papillomas is best done after childbirth. Because the use of any type of medicinal product can lead to the development of unwanted side effects in both the mother and the fetus.
Home therapy is prohibited during this period.
Only in extreme cases, when papillomas pose a real threat (they develop into malignant tumors), electrocoagulation, laser therapy or cryodestruction can be used.
Activities after removal of papillomas
If a papilloma or wart is expelled after using these techniques,The following recommendations should be followed:
- During a visit to the shower or bath, the parts of the body where there were papillomas should not be subjected to mechanical stress (whip with a broom, rub with a washcloth).
- If the growth is not completely removed, do not attempt to remove it with scissors or other improvised means.
- Avoid direct sunlight.
- The wound is treated with antiseptics, kept clean, and sterile cotton-gauze bandages are used.
It is important to remember that papillomas are only the result of human papillomavirus infection. They are symptoms of this, so there is a high chance that they will reappear.
